Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2025

1. Our Privacy Commitment

VoxWear AI is built on a privacy-first foundation. We believe your health data belongs to you, and we're committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how we safeguard your information while providing essential caregiving services.

Key Privacy Protections

  • You control your data: Video sharing is opt-in and requires your explicit consent
  • Minimal data collection: We only collect what's necessary for caregiving
  • Strict access controls: Role-based permissions ensure people only see what they need
  • No data selling: We never sell, trade, or rent your information
  • You can leave anytime: Delete your account and data whenever you want

2. What We Don't Collect

To be clear about our privacy-first approach, here's what we don't collect:

  • Location data or GPS tracking
  • Browsing history or web activity
  • Social media information
  • Financial or payment information (handled by third-party processors)
  • Biometric data beyond vital signs
  • Continuous video recording (only opt-in segments when you choose to share)
  • Data for advertising or marketing purposes

3. Information We Collect (And Why)

We collect only the information necessary to provide caregiving services. Here's what we collect and why:

3.1 Account Information

What: Name, email address, and authentication credentials

Why: To create and secure your account, and to communicate with you about the service

3.2 Care Profile Information

What: Basic profile information (name, date of birth, room number) and care-related details (medical conditions, medications, emergency contacts)

Why: To enable caregivers to provide appropriate care and respond to emergencies effectively

3.3 Vital Signs Data

What: Health metrics like heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and temperature

Why: To monitor health trends and generate accurate alerts when care is needed

3.4 Alert Information

What: Alert triggers, severity levels, and resolution status

Why: To notify caregivers when action is needed and track care responses

3.5 Video Segments (Opt-In Only)

What: Video segments are private by default and only shared when you explicitly choose to share them

Why: To allow verification of events when you choose to share with call-center staff. You control when, what, and for how long videos are shared

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to provide and improve caregiving services:

  • Care coordination: To help caregivers monitor and respond to health needs
  • Emergency response: To enable rapid response when help is needed
  • Accurate alerts: To reduce false alarms and notify only when action is truly needed
  • Account management: To manage your account and access permissions
  • Service updates: To communicate important information about your account or the service

We do not: Use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it for purposes unrelated to caregiving.

5. Your Data, Your Control

We believe you should control who sees your information. That's why we use strict role-based access controls:

  • Caregivers: See only the seniors they're assigned to care for
  • Seniors: See only their own data and care timeline
  • Call Center: See only alerts with video segments you've explicitly shared (and only while they're valid)
  • Admins: Manage accounts but cannot access your private data unless you've shared it

These boundaries are enforced at multiple levels—both in the application and at the database level—so your privacy is protected even if someone tries to bypass the system.

6. Video Sharing: You're in Control

Video segments are private by default. We never share them without your explicit consent:

  • Private by default: Videos stay with caregivers unless you choose to share
  • Explicit consent required: You must confirm before any video is shared
  • Time-limited access: Shared videos automatically expire after a set time
  • Revoke anytime: You can revoke access to shared videos at any moment
  • Transparent tracking: All sharing actions are logged so you can see who accessed what and when

Think of it like giving someone a temporary key to a specific room—you control when they can enter, how long they can stay, and you can take the key back anytime.

7. We Don't Sell Your Data

We never sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • When you choose to share: Only when you explicitly consent to share video segments or other data
  • Trusted service providers: With companies like Supabase (our database provider) who help us operate the service, and only under strict confidentiality agreements
  • Legal requirements: If required by law (e.g., court order, subpoena)
  • Emergency situations: In genuine emergencies where sharing information is necessary to protect health or safety

8. How We Protect Your Data

We use multiple layers of security to protect your information:

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted both when it's being transmitted and when it's stored
  • Access controls: Multiple layers of access controls ensure only authorized people can see your data
  • Database-level security: Even if someone bypasses the application, database-level security (RLS) protects your data
  • Activity logging: We log all sensitive actions so we can detect and prevent unauthorized access
  • Regular updates: We regularly review and update our security measures

While no system is 100% secure, we use industry-standard security practices and continuously work to improve our protections.

9. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account or request data deletion, we'll remove your personal information. We may retain some information only if legally required (e.g., for regulatory compliance).

10. Your Rights and Choices

You have full control over your data. You can:

  • Access your data: Request a copy of all information we have about you
  • Correct errors: Update or correct any inaccurate information
  • Delete your data: Request deletion of your personal information
  • Export your data: Get a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Revoke video sharing: Stop sharing any video segments at any time
  • Delete your account: Remove your account and all associated data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We'll respond promptly to your requests.

11. Third-Party Services

We use Supabase to securely host and manage your data. They're a trusted service provider with strong privacy protections. We ensure all third-party providers are bound by strict confidentiality and data protection agreements. Supabase's privacy practices are available in their own privacy policy.

12. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child, we will take steps to delete such information.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
